The World Congress of the World Business Angels Investment Forum, the biggest event of equity and capital markets of the world, provides an established platform to develop rich, meaningful global networks. It is of interest to investment promotion agencies (IPA), economic development boards (EDB), regional development agencies (RDA), chambers of commerce and industry, municipalities, innovation agents, export agencies, executives of private equity funds, wealth management institutions, family offices, banks, stock exchanges, science and technology parks, incubation centres, acceleration centres, and industry bodies. WBAF 2020 thus offers industry leaders global access to the best and the brightest in the world of business.
Introducing a new summit: the FDI Summit
Summits of the World Congress provide a unique platform for large organisations to lay out for both local and international solution providers the challenges and opportunities they face. This year, WBAF is introducing a brand new summit that will offer an excellent opportunity for investment promotion agencies, economic development boards, regional development agencies, export agencies and municipalities to connect with big players of the innovation, angel investment and private equity funds and in government to seek solutions to problems that impact communities around the world.
Invest-in-This-Country presentations on the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Stage
At its 2020 World Congress, WBAF is allocating a special stage for governments and municipalities to promote investment opportunities in their countries, regions and cities to global investors. The Foreign Direct Investment Stage (FDI) is a global convergence of various entities ranging from economic development board leaders to investment promotion agency executives, all of whom come to share with global investors the unique opportunities in their respective countries. The FDI Stage also aims to identify emerging trends and to further the Forum’s mission of easing access to finance for projects that have high potential for delivering a good return on investment.
VIP lunches with ministers
WBAF 2020 will host VIP lunch discussions for 200 selected investors from around the world on both Monday and Tuesday. Presidents, prime ministers, ministers and mayors who attend the VIP lunches will deliver short speeches. These lunches open the way for networking with high-level guests of the World Business Angels Investment Forum.
Global Fundraising Stage for 100 selected entrepreneurs
At WBAF 2020, WBAF is allocating a special area for 100 startups, scaleups, and high-growth businesses. Each will have an area to showcase their business, and they will also be able to pitch their business to investors on WBAF’s Global Fundraising Stage on 18 February.
The 2020 Global Fundraising Stage (GFRS), supported by the WBAF Angel Investment Fund, was established to invest in startups and scaleups who pitch on the GFRS. The aim is to showcase the world’s top startups and scaleups, which, typically, are funded companies in the process of raising €50K – €3M, with the ultimate goal of globalizing.
GFRS participants will have a free Investment Readiness Workshop from the WBAF Business School. They will also have a free one-on-one mentoring session with a qualified mentor of the World Business Angels Investment Forum.
Sponsoring startups from your country who are eligible to pitch on the Global Fundraising Stage is a good way to demonstrate your commitment to empowering the economy through entrepreneurship and innovation.
WBAF Business School will offer, free of charge, an FDI Masterclass
It is the position of the WBAF Business School that when professionals have had the advantage of training in the best practices of different investment disciplines, they are in a better position to ensure good returns on their investment for their cities, regions and countries. With this in mind, the WBAF Business School offers a wide variety of training programmes using a range of input types (case studies, panel discussions, and presentations, to name a few), all of which encourage active participation and interaction on the part of those attending.
The WBAF Business School is taking advantage of this year’s Congress to make available a free masterclass for professionals of investment promotion agencies, economic development boards and regional development agencies.
