The establishment of the office reflects WBAF’s long-term vision of enabling more entrepreneurs to transform innovative ideas into scalable, investable ventures with global impact, strengthening North America’s Gateway to Global Angel Investment & Entrepreneurship.

Montreal – The World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF) — an affiliated partner of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) — announces the official establishment of its National Commissioner Office in Canada, marking a significant milestone in the Forum’s global expansion and its mission to democratise access to finance for entrepreneurs worldwide. The establishment of the office was announced during the Grand Opening Ceremony of the WBAF 2025 Grand Assembly on 8 December in Istanbul.

With this strategic step, WBAF strengthens its footprint in North America, advancing its commitment to support startups, scaleups, SMEs, and investors through structured entrepreneurial diplomacy and cross-border investment collaboration. Maloyi Eudes Damien, WBAF Senior Senator for Canada, has been appointed as Head of Mission for the WBAF National Office in Canada.

This development reinforces WBAF’s growing presence across key regions, following the recent establishment of its National Offices in Singapore (Asia) and Côte d’Ivoire (Africa). Canada now becomes an integral node within WBAF’s global investment network, connecting Canadian entrepreneurs to new markets, cross-border co-investment opportunities, and international angel investor communities.

Through this new institutional presence, WBAF will:

  • Accelerate the development of Canada’s innovation and startup ecosystem
  • Support women and youth entrepreneurship on national and global stages
  • Expand digital and financial inclusion initiatives across regions
  • Enable Canadian founders to connect with international investors, co-investment networks, and global capital markets
  • Facilitate participation in WBAF platforms such as the Global Fundraising Stage, Global Women Leaders Committee, Startup Nations Programme, and WBAF Business School

The establishment of the office reflects WBAF’s long-term vision of enabling more entrepreneurs to transform innovative ideas into scalable, investable ventures with global impact.

Speaking on the announcement, Baybars Altuntas, Executive Chairman of WBAF, stated:

Canada is home to a dynamic innovation ecosystem, world-class universities, and a vibrant community of entrepreneurs and investors. We believe the WBAF National Office in Canada will unlock new investment corridors between North America and global markets, enabling more founders to access smart finance, mentorship, and global scalability.
