As Picasso’s Portrait d’Un Homme Debout Avec Barbiche — Portrait of a Standing Man with Goatee — continues its eternal journey at Maison Altuntas, Istanbul, Baybars Altuntas, Executive Chairman, World Business Angels Investment Forum, was honoured to celebrate this remarkable masterpiece together with the legendary artists Bedri Baykam, Honorary Chairman of the International Association of Art (IAA) affiliated with UNESCO, and Manos Ioannidis, Chair of the International Chamber of Arts (ICA), alongside distinguished international guests from Albania, Bahrain, Germany, Greece, Iran, North Macedonia, Switzerland, Türkiye, and the UK on 18 May.
(ISTANBUL) – Baybars Altuntas was deeply honoured by the presence of Mr. Khalid Al Zayani and Madame Al Zayani of Bahrain — founder of Investcorp and one of the Gulf region’s most respected international business leaders — together with H.E. Eduard Shalsi and Madame Shalsi, Former Minister of Entrepreneurship of the Albanian Government, and H.E. Ervin Hoxha and Madame Hoxha, Former Minister of Interior Affairs of the Albanian Government.
He also warmly acknowledge the valued presence of distinguished members of the International Chamber of Arts: Afra Pinar, Banu Sagnak, Balkız Inal, Elif Ates, Maryam Faghani, and Secil Ertugrul.
He also expresses his sincere gratitude to Istanbul Modern for their generous support and collaboration in hosting the distinguished guests of Maison Altuntas for this special visit, and to Bedri Baykam for hosting an exclusive Maison Altuntas meet-up at Piramid Sanat, bringing together art, friendship, and inspiring international dialogue in the heart of Istanbul, on 19 May.
Created in 1898, this exceptional work reflects a significant chapter in the formative years of Pablo Picasso, preceding his celebrated Blue Period. It was an unforgettable evening where art, culture, friendship, and global dialogue came together under one roof.
This distinguished masterpiece arrived in Istanbul from the Marina Picasso Estate Collection — the collection of Pablo Picasso’s grand daughter Marina Picasso — through an auction conducted by Park West Gallery, USA.
